Wibble

.

He has 5 more doses of his baytril-and-a-half. I am a bit nervous......

I have, of course, been watching him like a hawk. He clearly feels great, but there have been some anomalies..........

I mentioned before that he has some red toenails. Bands of dark ("old blood"-colored) red in what would otherwise be clear/white. I should get some pics.............

Then a few days ago his left ear was clearly itching. Of course I thought "FUNGAL INFECTION!" Down in his ear it looked like very dark brown wax. Enough so that it took me a lot of qtips to clean it. Eight or ten, at least. It didn't smell funky (which I believe yeast infections do), and, even better, he hasn't been acting like it was itchy since I cleaned it out.

Best of all, the vet says he's fine. She says that I can clean out his ear(s) with half vinegar half water, and that if there is anything trying to happen in there, the change in pH will be good for stopping it.

She says that his nails are "a normal variation" and nothing to worry about.

I've never seen these red toenails in any dog, and have never seen him have itchy ears before, so I wanted to find out while he is in his current "I feel great!" state whether there was anything we had to address.

Whee! That's the first time I've taken a dog to the vet and gotten nothing but good news for about a year, I think!

Yay.

Please think good thoughts at us this coming week, that he not relapse (again!) when his antibiotics run out.................
