We must remember.....

.

Last night I read Maira Kalman's And the Pursuit of Happiness.  Maira is a thinker and an artist.  I believe that, at least in part, she thinks by painting.  She certainly expresses her thoughts in paintings.

This book is about our country, our aspirations, our despair, our hopes, our leaders, our predecessors, ourselves, our neighbors, our past, present, and future.

She visited many places around the country.

She quotes many notables.

I was struck by several quotes, including this one, which she found on a sign over the men's room in the Capitol Building:

"We must remember that any oppression, any injustice, any hatred is a wedge designed to attack our civilization."  -- Franklin Delano Roosevelt

Yes, please, let's remember this, and amend our behavior accordingly.
