Xylitol is an artificial sweetener. It is deadly to dogs. Very small doses can be lethal.
It is common in sugarless gums and candies, and now is more and more common in pediatric versions of drugs -- the very versions veterinarians have been able to use for small pets!
This is scary and horrible.
