ATC a day for August, day 22

Another hard-copy atc. I liked the way the text looked, over the picture, in the pie one yesterday, so I tried that again.

Not sure how I feel about this one. Is the spoon Too Much? Is it Too Obvious (not Mysterious enough?) to have the recipe be featured in the pic?

Interesting the limitations and strengths of different media. If this were in Photoshop, I'd have a lot more leeway as to which items I included (and could change 'em in and out!). As this is hardcopy, that spoon is forever stuck to the tape. The black line around the spoon is pretty harsh, but that is one little spoon (whole thing is 3.5" tall), and I was afraid if I didn't leave some extra around the handle, it would be so flimsy I couldn't work with it. Can we pretend that we're stirring the sugar syrup to make the candied lemon peel with the spoon, rather than eating the doughnut with the spoon (and wouldn't we really use our fingers rather than a fork to eat a doughnut? ;-) I'm not much of a doughnut eater, in the end. I like the way these look, but wouldn't choose one out of the pastry case...).

The spoon itself is somewhat transparent (unlike that black line around it!) -- you can see the golden doughnut through the spoon in places in the larger version of the image.

I agree, I think it would look better if the spoon were a bit more ghostly; a bit less *emphatic*. I could mess with the digital image......

Denise, I'm glad you prompted me to figure out how to delete accidentally-duplicated comments. Of course it didn't delete the whole shebang, but just the meat of it.... :-)

Thank you for your kind words.

I have my third Pembroke corgi at present, and my other dog is a maybe part beagle sort of guy. Do you know what your neighbor's kennel name was? I might know it.

I tried photoshopping this a bit -- to see if I could de-emphasize the black edge around the spoon. Wish I could erase that black line, but there's nothing "underneath" it...... I cut it and painted a lighter color, but it's just as monolithic as the black, and more ... phony ...looking. Sigh.

I had the brilliant idea of cutting out the spoon (in photoshop) and making it bigger, to cover up more of the black. This did not work -- lengthwise it might work, but width-wise ... that handle is so narrow that making it wider enough to make a difference makes the bowl and handle ridiculously wide. Sigh.
