This clock is on the outside of Macy's (formerly Marshall Field's). I couldn't decide if it belonged in the previous post (which has a lot about Macy's), or if it belonged in "leaving Macy's, to walk on." I decided on the latter.....
I walked north toward the Chicago River. Amused by this fancy little gazebo thing, on a building that is plainer.
Another fancy building. I think this was a theater.
I was struck by this green zigzag, which sticks out of the building. It turns out this is a hotel -- The Wit.
That green line comes all the way down to ground level.
The last time we were in Chicago, we stayed in the Club Quarters hotel. I am pretty sure it is the white one that ends up taller than the rest in this picture. Our room was compact, and oddly shaped, but it had everything we needed and worked out well for us. (Last time the bridge hotel was on Wacker Drive; this time it was a ways south on Michigan Ave.)
Here's a closer look at the reflections on the blue building above.
I love these "corncob" apartment buildings. I would love a chance to see one of the apartments, some time.
The bottom many floors are parking.
There are lots of planters in the middle of streets, in Chicago. Here is an area for eating, right in the middle of the street.
This is a closer crop of the above. See the uneven stripes on the greenish dark gray building? That's The Wit again. We're looking at the west side of The Wit from the north rather than the south (as we did last time), so we can't see the skinny green south side of the part of the west side that sticks out.
These apartments are right on the river. Many of them must have spectacular views..........
We're standing on the Riverwalk, looking up river, hoping Asian carp never make it through here to the great lakes. (!!!!!)
The river sparkles with the reflections of buildings.
We saw lots of double-decker tour buses. Like the segway tours, they ran whether it was raining or not. (I saw people up on top, riding around in the rain..........)
I might like to take a tour, on a nice day......... But since I couldn't take pics in the rain, I wouldn't want to take a tour if it were raining.
Now here's a sentiment I can get behind.
The Carbide and Carbon Building is one of my faves...........
I think these plants are on the outside of the Chicago Cultural Center whose stained-glass dome we enjoyed a couple of days ago.
