August 5

.

On the 5th I walked downtown to have lunch with my work buddies.  That was good, as always.  So nice to be able to get together whenever we want to!

Many topics of conversation, as always.  It's disturbing when every person you talk to who is helping elderly parents has difficulty dealing with the IRS........

Walking home....

We looked at this enormous bed of daylilies a couple of weeks ago.  It was more yellow and peach then; it's more dark orange and red now.

And pink, now, too.

Hedge shadows, on the sidewalk.

Almost home, on another of the series of gorgeous days we are having.

Some summers it seems like we only get a handful of perfect days.  This year, we've had a handful of too-hot-for-me hot days, and the rest has been perfect..........

Walking to yoga.

This is the first blooming goldenrod I've seen this year.

With a bug.  I did see this bug when I took the pic, and I thought -- that doesn't really look like a yellow jacket.

And so it does not look like a yellow jacket, even on "the big screen."  It looks more beetle-ish.  I wonder if the coloration is to make predators think it might be a yellow jacket?

Tiny little butterfly, on clover.

Reflections on the pond.  All of those yellow outliines are around the edges of the ball field.

Here's a first!  I had it on good authority that there were turtles in the pond, but this is the first one I've ever seen there.  It has green stuff growing from its shell....    I'd say its shell was about 6" from front to back.

I also saw small goldfish for the first time.  About the size you'd expect to see for sale at the pet store -- 2-3".

Reflections on the pond.

Monarda, black-eyed Susans of various kinds, and the white is queen Ann's lace.

Little trees, in the strong evening sun.

Meanwhile, at the golf course, the weather was perfect.

This is later than the above.  Just after sunset.

Wow, eh?

One of the goals for the golf season is to be the last car in the parking lot.  That goal was not achieved on the 5th (more cars, not visible), but this image gives the sense of that goal...........

You're right -- the weather this summer has been perfect. Even the too-hot days have MOTLY been too hot, not both hot and TOO humid. I wish this summer would never end!
