August 15 -- finishing up at the Aquarium, and the rest of the day
.
I thought I would take this fine opportunity to capture the duck above and below (pristine clear) water, but every last shot I took was blurry. I wish I'd thought to try video........ (But since Blogger isn't letting me upload any video, I guess that wouldn't have helped!)
White-faced whistling duck, according to the descriptive info.
Now here is a photographer's friend. This one knows how to pose......................
See the turtle's reflection?
Shiny fish with big scales.
Frog, with matching begonia leaf.
Another frog. All of the frogs were still. Not sure why this one is blurry (this is the best of several shots). Maybe the glass wasn't clean.
Big head, small body.
This part of the Aquarium was really hard on photographers. So much light on the people (and the floor!) means tons of reflection.....................
Me and a piranha.
Fancy lights.
When we were watching the really big tank, at the beginning of our visit, there were people there taking questions, and talking about the Aquarium.
One of them mentioned that the oldest marine animal on public display is a lungfish at this facility.
I believe this is that very lungfish. He came to the Aquarium in 1933. Pretty amazing.
Lungfish rise to the surface to grab some air. He did that, while we watched.
One last "I couldn't make this up" and we'll wrap up our visit.
Wondering how it makes its living, that it needs that enormous ... bill?
Time to go. Well, after we hit the gift shop, for a few postcards.........
Chicago, seen from the Aquarium.
Walking through the park toward Michigan Ave.
We're right in front of the FIeld Museum. This is the same planter we've enjoyed on previous visits.
There were several arty pics of Michael Jordan in front of the Field Museum. I like the colors in this one.
Looking back toward the Aquarium.
Waiting to cross Lake Shore Drive.
Looking back toward the park.
We still had most of half a pizza from Giordano's in the cooler in our room. We decided to get some more salad to go with it, so we went back to Giordano's to make a take-out order. We also got some bruschetta.
Walking back to the hotel. Looking east toward the museum campus, past that cluster of blue buildings we've seen so many times.
We've eaten our supper. The salad was just as good as we remembered. The bruschetta was good, too. The pizza was better when fresh and hot, but was still good, even cold.
We are savoring our view. Looking through the southerly pane of our bay window. There's that cluster of blue buildings. If there were no leaves on the trees, I believe we could see the Field Museum from here.
There was a little dance floor in the park, on the corner you see above. They had music of various kinds on different nights, and lots of people were dancing.
This is a closer crop of the above, so you can see the dancers.
Enjoying being able to see big sky any time we look out the window.
And big water, too!
We had a wonderful time in Chicago. I'm looking forward to going back!
