Did you know that "the majority of bacteria, up to 90 percent, prefer living in surface-associated biofilm communities rather than as free-floating, individual bacteria (what we call planktonic bacteria)"?
I didn't, until I read this article about biofilms in The Conversation.
Amongst other interesting things, I learned that bacteria living together in a biofilm are up to 1000 times less susceptible to antibiotics than bacteria living individually, and that bacteria can choose to either live in a biofilm or individually.............
