This video is from one of the campaigns I've been writing for.  He mentions some benefits of writing get-out-the-vote postcards that I'd thought of -- not just getting out the vote, but encouraging the candidate.  He also mentions a big one I hadn't thought of -- people on the ground, hearing about people all over the country writing to help in their district -- are more motivated to get out and knock on doors, etc.
