A blustery chilly day at the farmers market. I have to say the juxtaposition of cabbages and rutabaga with hot chilis seemed a bit strange. But the more I think about it -- why not?
This is one really large rutabaga! I'm not sorry I don't have to try to peel it.
The rest of the family went to the food coop for (local free-range) eggs, and I stayed put with the heavy bags from the farmers' market. (We had bought butternut squash, for squash soup, and turnips, carrots, rutabaga, and kale, for vegetable soup. And a gallon of cider, and some applesauce. Heavy.)
While I waited I looked for something to occupy my attention. This is what I found. Decorative kale.
I was glad to get my cold feet into the Deli.
Every so often we have our own personal hot-chocolate tasting. The 22nd was perfect hot-chocolate weather.....
We always get our fave -- "Spanish drinking chocolate" (which is really too thick to drink, so is more like hot pudding), and two others, and then compare.
We enjoyed all three of these, but Spanish drinking chocolate is still our favorite. Mmmmmmmmmm. It reminds us of Angelina's in Paris............
Here's part of the set of purchases from the food coop -- three different kinds of popcorn. White, yellow, red. Too bad the bags are green, but we'll work with what we have......
