ATC a day for August, day 4

Having too much fun with photoshop elements. I took a coneflower image caught with my camera in Chicago a couple weeks ago. Removed the color, posterized (four values), cropped, and got this:

Then I colored it. I started by cutting out the white parts of the petals and putting an adjustment layer behind. Then I selected the slightly shadowed parts of the petals and made a new layer by cutting. I lightened their opacity so that the yellow showed through. Then I selected the lightest parts of the center of the flower, and painted them, and repeated that with the next lightest parts of the center.

Hmm. Ok, not thrilling.

Now let's put it in color enhancement and shove the hue and saturation around.

Ooooh. Much better.

Let's do that some more!!!

Love that bright, saturated color!

That turned out great...makes you want to go out and buy the tablet to paint in photoshop with!

Thanks!

I was just looking at USB hubs -- all the better to plug in things like tablets.... :-)

Photoshop is a very productive addiction - your coneflower looks fantastic!

I used to use it all the time and haven't for some time now. iPhoto is so easy. I should play with photoshop again.
Thanks

Thank you for the kind words!

I don't have the full version, I have Elements. I am a long way from being aware of all I can do just with Elements -- it is jammed with power......

I LOVE that my pic isn't finished when I hit the shutter button!!!!!!!!!! These are the ultimate toys for control freaks!

I can't look at pics now, without thinking -- "Oh -- just get rid of that intrusive streetlight!" "Let's move that nice red flower into the middle of these yellow ones!" "Poor teenager. Here, let me heal the blemishes on your face." :-)
