another horse

Lots of the horses were in this sort of stall with the chain-link at the top. Not the best for pics -- if the horse is close there's no way to avoid getting the fencing in the pic. And even if the horse is at the other side of the stall, you still have to work to avoid the fencing.

We hadn't been in a long time. There were a lot fewer entries in the vegetables department (didn't see things like "biggest pumpkin" at all), and in the pickles and decorated cakes departments. Not sure I remember yeast breads, either (maybe that was judged much earlier in the fair and they pitched what was left?). Lots of cookies, which would be fun to judge, maybe, but not so interesting to view.

Not much interesting in the crafts, I thought. I mean -- a pillow made from fringed polar fleece with the fringes tied together? A lovely thing to have, to be sure, but I wouldn't have thought it ... involved ... enough to qualify as competition-worthy.......

Lots of "art" -- paintings, drawings, photography. I'm afraid that by the time we made it to that building, I didn't have the energy to devote a lot of time to all of it (especially as a lot of it was totally pedestrian).....
