One last image from the Michigan State Fair.
Is this one gorgeous boy, or what? He was my very favorite of the single horses pulling the two-wheeled carts.
He was huge, he was beautiful, he knew his job and did it well (winning his competition).
Happy sigh.
As you'll have noted from the earlier posts, things are changing at the State Fair. Fewer classes, fewer entries. Someday it won't be there at all.
If you love animals, if you love quirky competition in warted gourds or pints of pickled peppers, go. Go now. Hurry. While you still can see all there is to see. While you can still pet a friendly horse, while you can still touch a pig's bristles, while you can still have a goat gently nibble your fingers. While you can still see the sheaves of wheat and flax, the baskets of produce, the cookies, cakes, breads, afghans, sweaters, crocheted toilet-paper covers. Go, while you can still see an enormous dappled team fly around the ring............
Hurry.
