Ocean City has taken some trouble to preserve a fraction of the beach plants that would be there if there were no people. There are marked paths down across the sand, and the rest of the area nearest the buildings is covered in plants.
I'm guessing these are what would be there without human intervention, though maybe they are what is there *after* human intervention, and are different from what was there before people barged onto the scene.
That yellow stuff didn't strike me as goldenrod when I was there, but now I wonder....
Isn't this cool? If you look in the pic above, the blob on the horizon on the left is one of the shrubs that have this sort of flower.
Of course there are also plants that were brought here by people. You won't see any of these growing outdoors in Michigan...... Gotta love the textures.......
