Being only an occasional visitor to the beach, I have no idea what is usual and customary.
Saturday I didn't see horseshoe crabs on the beach. Sunday, there were lots, all dead. I'm not sure why I didn't take any pics of the ones that were belly up on the sand, but I didn't. It looked cool under there, but so ... exposed.......
These are rather good-sized critters, as you can see from my footprints.
Their shells are a wonderful variation in browns.
I'm having a hard time not perceiving those bumps on top, on either side, as eyes, even though I know they're not.....
I don't know if this is why there were dead horseshoe crabs scattered over the beach, but it seems like it could be.....
