You'll recall this image from last week.
We knew it wasn't all that cold, as there was no snow on the pavement. But just in case we needed more evidence that this was not the heart of winter, just a few yards and a few seconds up the hill from the previous shot, I saw this:
They say that robins over-winter around here, but I've never seen one in the dead of winter. They like to eat worms and bugs, which are in awfully short supply when it is cold......

Although Robins to eat a lot of worms in the spring, they mostly eat fruit such as berries. As climates have changed we see more and more of them wintering over in the Northeast.

I noticed the bird song last week, I think. I can't remember if it was just before, or just after that snowy day.....
And -- I wish winter were silent. @)((#$*^ snow blowers..........
