Harlot!

Stephanie returned to Ann Arbor on April Fool's Day.

Unfortunately, a combination of trip-planners and weather played havoc with her travel. She spent the night of March 31 in Cleveland. Cleveland, Ohio. Cleveland, Ohio, which is three (3) hours from Ann Arbor by car.

So how did Stephanie get to Ann Arbor? Well, she got up at 3:30 am (!!!) so she could catch a red-eye (or is it a "shut-eye", at that time of night??) for ... wait for it ... *Chicago*. !!!!! So she could catch a flight to Detroit. !!!!!!

All of that craziness went as planned, but when the second flight arrived at Detroit, it was just too foggy in the Motor City for the flight to land (though it tried twice!). So -- wait for it -- it went back to Chicago! !!!!!!!

All of us showed up at the library some time between 11:30 am (before the library opened at noon) and 2:00 pm (when Stephanie was scheduled to speak). At 2:00, we were told she was in Chicago, hoping to get on a flight to Detroit.........

Good grief.

Poor Stephanie -- what a nightmare.

We were fine. We had our knitting, we had plenty of people to chat with, and some intelligent, forward-thinking, and generous souls even brought enough cookies to share. We sat. We knitted. We wandered the library. We went out for a bite to eat. We visited Busy Hands lys a few blocks away. We took little bitty baby socks up to the podium to see the world from the viewpoint of a famous and well-traveled sock. And we waited.

Stephanie arrived, amazingly only a few hours late, and was her usual energetic and entertaining self. Go see her if she comes anywhere near you -- I won't spoil it for you by sharing the best bits here.

Check out the sweater. Wow.

Some people couldn't stay to the very end, but a lot of people had Stephanie sign books:

As you can see, there is an art show in the meeting room at the library. That painting behind Stephanie, above -- the one which coordinates so nicely with the sweater -- is of sheep. How appropriate.

Thanks for coming, Stephanie!! Maybe we should buy an atlas for the person planning your travel? So they won't send you from Cleveland to Ann Arbor via Chicago?

I have to ask... what kind of camera do you have? I was sitting in the row behind you at the library and holy cow... your zoom is amazing! My pictures from my seat really sucked. :op I need a new camera anyway, so any tips are appreciated!

Check out the posts under "camera" on the blog -- I've talked about both cameras pretty extensively.

The big one worked better in the low light where she was standing (and it has a 12x zoom).

It's a Panasonic DMC FZ-10. That was the first one of its model (or however you describe the different cameras from one manufacturer). I have loved it, and am looking forward to getting the newest version (they are up to 8, with mine being 1 really, not 10....)

Thanks for the visit!
