... at the Toledo Zoo.
An owl.
A mocking bird.
Is this a quail? Love the expression on its face.....

i love checking your blog for the great pics. the birds are especially beautiful.
keep on and know you are appreciated.
(i sat behind you at the yarn harlot in ann arbor, the white-haired lady.)
I was thinking you might live in TN or TX since you are so taken with orange-school colors. I like you photos and love that quail.
Thanks for the visits, kind words, and encouragement!
I just happen to love orange; no school ties to that color. My junior high was red and white, my high school black and gold, and my university maize and blue..... :-)
Helen Frankenthaler made large abstract prints, several decades ago, and one was entitled "I Need Yellow." I second that sentiment, and add orange, chartreuse, hot pink, and turquoise......
I love the quail, too. Anyone whose feet are bigger than his head......
We saw a bird show at the San Diego wild animal park, one time, which included an emu.
They told us an emu's brain was 1/3 the size of one of its eyes. Now an emu has pretty big eyes, but still......... After years of training, it was *pretty* (but not entirely) reliable at figuring out that a person holding a white container would have treats......
Something about the look of this quail reminds me of all that.
Probably a calumny, but there it is.....
