stork

No, no, a REAL stork.........................

Let's leave the neighborhood, shall we? Two weeks ago we went to the Toledo Zoo.

Birds drink by scooping up water in their bills, and then tipping their heads back so the water runs down their throats.

Even really really big birds.

You were wondering what that shadow was, in the upper left corner, weren't you?

Yes, it's a crocodile.

Despite the lifted leg, which might make it look to be stealthily creeping up on the stork, I never saw it move a muscle.

Nor its friend, neither.

The stork was utterly unconcerned, and in fact walked closer yet after it finished its drink.

I wish I'd kept on snapping, and had preserved the next few frames....... I was so mentally focused on the stork that after it turned its back on me I walked around to a different viewpoint.

Always, ALWAYS pay attention to what is in the background of your picture.........

In any case, nothing happened at all. I walked around to a slightly different vantage point. The stork was preening, and the crocs apparently hadn't moved a millimeter.

These crocs look really fat (not that I'm any kind of croc expert!). I'm guessing no one at the Toledo Zoo goes in with them and dangles chicken parts over their heads to give them the exercise of lunging for their food the way Steve Irwin did............ I don't think storks (or any other birds) would be so complacent with Steve-o's crocs.........
