Yesterday morning I couldn't even get him to drink, so I knew I had check him in at our vet.
They said to give him his prednisone and another dose of the Reglan he started on Wed. night for the vomiting, and to bring him in. So I did.
He spent the day there on iv fluids, and was, at 7:00 pm, still holding down a couple of small bits of food.
They kept him overnight (in part to conserve his paltry inchage of veins -- those short corgi legs don't offer much scope for stabbing for iv, and he needs every bit for his chemo). The thinking was that if I took him home last night, and brought him back today so he needed to be stuck again, it was worse than him keeping the same iv.......
When I talked to his oncologist last night, she was very glad they had been so careful.
She said that this gastrointestinal response could mean two opposite things -- either the chemo was too much for him OR the chemo did such an excellent job that all the cells it killed were overwhelming his system. She asked for a blood count (which my vets had already done), so she could tell better what to do to him next week........
I was fine with leaving him overnight at the vet (though he did NOT want me to leave him), as it was the first time I could stand down since we got the diagnosis.
Now I'm beginning to gather myself to call them and to go get him.......
