The bloggers among you will appreciate this -- in the hurry to get ready to go on the morning of the 11th, I forgot to post my "adieu" message.
The hotel in Fairbanks had a net-connected computer available for guests to use for brief periods, so I took my turn to get my message posted.
I guess the last person to use that computer was Japanese -- when I brought up blogger, all of the text on its pages was in Japanese. Hmmm. I tried for "blogger help" and was told that I needed to change the browser's default language. Well, sure, I know how to do that.... NOT. (Reading this over, I wonder if it was actually that the last user who knew how to change the browser's default language was Japanese..................)
Luckily the formatting of blogger's pages didn't change, and I am familiar enough with where things are on the post-editing page that I was able to change the date and get the message posted, even without being able to read any of the text on the editing page................
In order to facilitate chronological traverse of these posts, a link to the next one is here.
