green stuff

Farmers' market peas: one non-comformist.

Tulip tree. Doesn't this look like something out of biology class? You can really see the network of veins. (Click to see the bigger version....)

The sum total of deliberately-planted edibles in our yard is in one pot. Basil, parsley, and mint.

I saw this bug's splash of red on the mint, and thought "box-elder bug." But no, it's a lightning bug. I am not a bug-o-phile, but lightning bugs are amongst the very few that I will gently escort out of the house when they find themselves indoors.

For those of you from other climes, these can flash their abdomens in an insectoid "hey, baybee!" In the country, at night, over a field of corn, you might see thousands of tiny moving/flashing lights. In town, merely dozens or hundreds...........

I've never seen one up this close before. Who knew the antenna joints were yellow? (Not that I ever gave any thought at all to antenna joints!) Love the macro focus on the cameras -- I'm seeing so many things I never saw with my bare eyes.......

The leaf (enlarged) reminds me of an ariel satelite map from google. Just what housing developments looks like in TX.

Maybe this is where they got the design........ :-)
