Jennifer Black blogged a lovely tribute to a woman who reached out to her when she was young and in desperate need of that lifeline. A drop in the stream of kindness from Mrs. Coker was a gift of daylilies. Since I read Jennifer's post, I have thought of Mrs. Coker's warmth and generosity whenever I see these daylilies in anyone's yard.
I don't know who planted my daylilies (they were there, in my first yard, when I bought that first house). I brought some of them along to this house, and they are the healthiest and most prolific flowers I have. I am grateful to the person who planted my lilies. I am glad to honor her and Mrs. Coker, enjoying "common orange daylilies" as June heats up into July.

Great news about Buzz! I hope he continues to improve.
The gift I got from my previous home garden was the pinkest, most fragrant, beautiful peony - I brought some with me when we moved. It is still my favorite :-)
We have lots of orange in our yard right now as the Asiatic lillies and the nasturciums are both in full bloom - I'll put some on my blog for you next week. Cheers. T.
Thanks!
I LOVE peonies. They are my very favorite of all......
I'll look forward to seeing your orange. :-) Thanks!

This book is just too good not to share. If you can buy one, or borrow a copy from the library, do it. I love daylilies. They would grow as weeds in the roadside ditches in New Jersey.
Great suggestion, Leslie! I checked, but my library doesn't have it. I suggested they get it; we'll see........
It looks like fun.
