Recognize this?
It's a turkey. As with the orange chicken, I felt that his head would have been better set off by black or gray feathers, rather than his brown.....
There was a hen in the pen with this guy, and he was in full-tilt "hey baybeee" mode. He seemed to have molted recently, but he was holding out what passed for feathers, and quivering them for all he was worth, stalking around, with his head held just so.....
I don't know if her indifference was feigned or actual.
Here's another strange bird for you.........
This is a guinea fowl. I don't know how much body there is under all the feathers. I am amused by the apparently big body (and actually big feet) and the tiny head and scrawny neck.
Don't you love the "hairs" sticking up on the back of the head?
Guineas are supposed to be great "watch dogs" as they crank up quite a racket when they think things aren't quite right in their environment. I had never heard this until Aug 31. Gracious goodness they are noisy.
And I bet they listen, when told to shut up, even less well than dogs...........
I don't want any roosters, either.............
