This camera is really not fond of bluish pinks and reds, which is why the open flower is sort of blown out. I know there are all sorts of compromises to make when recording color. In film, I know that certain brands are better for blues, and others are better for warmer colors.
I am sure there are similar issues around dealing with recording color with electronic sensors. The choices made by Panasonic don't favor this part of the spectrum. (By contrast, doesn't it do a nice job with greens!)
I didn't pay any attention to what kind of tree this was. I just liked the texture of the bark.
