It occurred to me that maybe I should show some mise en scene for the pumpkin I've been blogging.
Here it is, burgeoning out of the small space in which it was planted.
What is not to love about a pumpkin plant? Excellent flowers.
Excellent leaves.
Excellent fruits, of course, though this plant hasn't any.
On top of all that, there are tendrils. Gotta love the tendrils......

Not to mention the promise of yumminess. Pumpkin pie! Pumpkin stew with tomatoes and beans! Pumpkin ravioli with a creamy sauce!
My sister made a pumpkin pie from a pumpkin, one time, and pronounced it not as good as pumkin pie from a can (and a LOT more trouble!).
So I've regarded them as more for looks than for eating, really.....
Seems to me I read somewhere that most of the canned "pumpkin" is really squash.... (Not sure where that line is drawn.......)
That said, I LOVE pumpkin pie and your other ideas sound very good, too! :-)
Presently my constant use of pumpkin is for the dog. Chemo is very hard on the digestive tract, and pumpkin (according to the onc) is very good for nourishing the gut, so it can be calm rather than sending out distress signals to the dog's whole body.
So I have frozen heaping-tablespoonfuls of pumpkin, and thaw two almost every night (two because the other dog wants his, too!).........
