Here are the same steps this week, after Mother Nature had her way with the Virginia creeper's leaves and the neighborhood squirrels (I presume) had their way with the pumpkins.

Oh, I so like that better than any other ways I have seen pumpkins "disposed of". :)

Around here, the city picks up leaves (if you rake them into the street), and composts them. If you put pumpkins out there, they'll pick them up with the leaves....
My pumpkin would sit atop the compost pile and look spookier and spookier as he shriveled and collapsed and grew a moldy beard...
Very nice that the city does that! Cheers for the city!
Amen to that. Ann Arbor does a good job with recycling, too.
