Or, at least, that was the theory.
First the plane we were to leave on didn't arrive until after we were supposed to have gone. Then, once we finally got on and the plane drove away from the gate, we sat and sat -- "no space for us at Laguardia!". How nice.............
Not.
We actually did get going, finally, about 10 minutes after the preceding pic. Almost an hour after we'd been scheduled to arrive..........
This is one reason I love to fly -- you can see things you just can't see otherwise....
The clouds were solid until we began to get close.
This is a big place..... But all the buildings are small......
Bridges over water -- surely we are getting close -- but all the buildings are small....
Then, boom, I saw the southern tip of Manhattan. Big buildings! I saw the statue of Liberty! (Unfortunately those pics all came out too blurry to bother to save.)
Like a tourist, I said "We're here, we're here!" and kept snapping away, but the combination of low light and movement overcame the camera's ability to focus.....
My fellow CorgiAid staffer came in from a different state. We had dueling late planes, and I won..... She met me at baggage claim, and Pedigree sent a car for us. The car took us right to the Waldorf-Astoria. The Waldorf I did not recognize, but look what is just down the street! We were really in New York!!!!
In order to facilitate chronological traverse of these NYC posts, a link to the next one is here.
