Buzzupdate

It's been a long time since I posted a Buzzupdate.

He's been feeling just fine, but has been showing some of the same symptoms he showed last spring before he was diagnosed. Pink (from being wet too much) on his upper lips where they catch in his lower teeth. Sorta bulgy about the belly.

Yesterday he had an ultrasound, and I've been sure I'd get bad news.

A traveling ultrasonographer comes to my vet when she's needed. She's a specialist, who brings her own equipment and her own advanced training.

She kept him for more than an hour, and looked and looked, but didn't find anything that looked different from the last time she saw him (in September, I think).

Whew! I've been quite worried.

She did find one lymph node that was not enlarged, but which felt harder than it should.

Buzz will get vincristine (IV chemo) on the 19th; I'm to talk about all this with his regular vet at that time.

We're not off the hook. A dog is never off the hook, once diagnosed with cancer. In contrast to people, dogs are not hit as hard with all the chemo, and "cure" is not expected. But the immediate level of threat has been downgraded.

Whew.

Hi again...

I discovered your blog last August when we lost our Corgi to leukemia, and I've followed your "buzzupdates" ever since. I'm always happy when he's doing well, and anxious when he's not...thanks for keeping me updated on his well-being! I'll keep an eye out for future updates!
