remembering my gardening grandparents

.

My mother's mother loved to garden. She always had lots of flowers, and lots of vegetables.

She liked coral bells.

She also liked hollyhocks.

Love the buds, and love the big beautiful flowers.

Hollyhocks are seriously into pollen production.

Like the star shape, and like the differing translucence through the varying layers of petals.

My father's father was the gardener in my dad's family. Gramps took good care of his yard.

He had spirea along the walk.

These make me think of fireworks, with all the activity emerging from the flowers. I love the color, and I love the teeny weeny buds, lower right, getting ready to join the festivities.
