Lavender.

Delphinium, Asiatic lilies, coreopsis, and I'm not sure what else.

Clematis.

Rose.

Peonies. You can never have too many peonies.

I have no idea what this is, but isn't it cool? It looks like the "petals" form in one balloon, which then opens at the bottom to form the points (and let the pollinators in).... These were rather big. The biggest bloom here is nearly 4" long, I think.

I don't usually notice the invertebrates on the flowers until I see them on the "big screen," but this is a rather bigger invertebrate than some. I did see this one, and went for the close-up..... If you look closely at the previous, you can see its legs atop the largest flower

This next shot turned out better than I thought it might. I held the camera under the flower and clicked off the shutter a few times. I couldn't tell if I was positioned correctly, and obviously the lighting is difficult, but you can get an idea what these look like, up inside.

Peony.

Daylily.

Mmmm. Peony.

Isn't this the best month for flower lovers? Come visit my front garden slide show if you like. Tomorrow I'll be taking pictures in the back yard!
The red bell shapped thing is called Cherry Bells, it's a campanula -- and they spread like crazy. The bring pink on is, I belive called a campion, not sure, but possible. Lovely photos! Blogless Jean in Lansing
Thanks for the kind words, and for the info, Jean!
Francoise, I stopped by and looked at pics for a while, then had to go do something and got distracted before I left a comment. I'll be back! I love the garden in front of the white house, on your blog......
