walking to work, June 6

Here is the varigated iris whose stripey bud I showed you a while back. I haven't seen stripey buds on any other iris, so I'm going to tentatively conclude the stripes on the buds were related to the stripes on the leaves.

Mark me down in the "prefers interesting and scented flowers to stripey leaves" column.

Peachy iris, with peony buds in the background.

Peony. Peonies are very attractive to ants. I wonder if the ants remove other insects which might harm the peony....

Poppies.

Peony. Color just as the camera and I remember it. I don't think of peonies and neon color in the same thought, but here you are.....

Poppy.

Yellow house. Porch, with impatiens and hostas.

I had seen the beds in the locksmith's window before, but this was the first time I'd seen them occupied.

Daylily. I love daylilies. But. Daylilies in the first few days of June? Just wrong. Ah well. We'll enjoy it for all its daylilyish charms, and try to ignore the anachronism.

Juniper. I'd never noticed anything like this before.....

Isn't 'poppy' the most unbelieveable color?

Indeed. So intense......
