I am thinking about our country, and about how we all want it to be the very best it can be.

Nothing is the best it can be if each of us is full of "gimme! gimme! gimme!" Unless each of us thinks about the overall good, we will never be the best we can be.

Transportation is an arena where there are obvious ways we can benefit ourselves and also the greater good.

I am hoping that people will spurn the minivans and other pigmobiles in favor of smaller more efficient vehicles. Hoping that people will walk, and bike, and take public transportation. Hoping we can be gentler on the planet than we have been.

Hoping we can remember that even if gas is cheap, it is a limited resource, and a major source of pollution (from when it comes out of the ground until after it is finally burnt). Conserving it is Good.
