August 19, not one of the best days

.

My day began by taking Buzz for his chemo. All went well, but it is stressful. Every time, I wonder if our "get it done perfectly, so no damage is done in the administration of the drug" luck is used up.

He is getting wobblier and wobblier in the rear, which makes me wonder how much longer to continue subjecting him, and me, to the chemo...... Stressful.

Then I went to work and my DH went to the dentist for a filling. His mouth was left numb for hours and hours.

Again -- things could be much worse, but ... stressful.

Trying to put it aside, here is my office spider plant again.

Walking home. Our favorite ivy-covered telephone pole.

Morning glory, strung up on a dirty house.

It seems this day is going to have a gritty urban sort of theme. Texture on a cement-block wall.

How many hundreds of times have I walked by this fence (on the west side of the parking lot where the movie people were) and I never noticed the excellent wavy shadow. Maybe today has some redeeming features, after all.

A closeup of the metal and cement of the fence. Not sure where the rust is coming from -- the metal mesh looks pristine. On this side, anyway.....

Doodle on the sidewalk. Like the thick/thin of the line.

Railroad bridge.

Mother Nature's theme is Never Surrender.

It was very shortly after the above that my day got more gritty. The building above is right across the street from the YMCA. We all know how I feel about that. I try to focus my attention elsewhere as I walk by it, but the noise of children being picked up from day care generally reminds me not only of where I am but of how I'm really not all that fond of children.

So here I am, walking along, not very fond of children, and I hear a bike coming behind me. I pull my arms in, and stand very still, not wanting to move into its path.

It runs directly into my left calf, and comes to a halt there.

!!!!

(noting that I was at the bottom of the hill, so a bike just coasting could be going fairly fast.....)

It was a little (8?) kid. I told him he had the whole damned (extra wide!) sidewalk to use to avoid me, and asked where his parent was. He pointed at a group of three adults jogging up out of the distance. I waited for them to arrive, and told them I thought they were doing a lousy job of supervising the kid. Letting him get so far ahead and crash into people............

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. As much as I am not fond of children (especially children who run into me on their bicycles!), I really Really REALLY hate the adults who are supposed to be working at civilizing them, but can't be bothered. In a sensible world, people who can't be bothered to be attentive to what their children are doing would not be allowed to have them. (Which would take care of the over-population problem right there!)

Sigh.

Thank goodness for my trusty jeans. I shudder to think what my leg would look like, had I had bare skin.

Sigh. A good thing it was me instead of someone older and feebler. Someone more frail than I could have been destroyed.

Stupid kid. And stupider parents. !!! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

I was still pretty verklempt when I got home. (Did you know "verklempt" is a Yiddish word? I googled it, to check the spelling. I had thought it was German..... I was still feeling somewhat verklempt the next day -- makes me have a slightly better understanding of Post Traumatic-Event Syndrome, when a relatively minor thing like this can leave me feeling wobbly........)

Luckily the 19th concluded with an up note.

Look what we got for dessert! Gorgeous and delicious.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

They say that exercise makes you feel better. I do not find this to be true.

Ice cream, now, ice cream *does* make you feel better. And when your ice cream is the side note to a beautiful and yummy dessert, even better yet.

Honey, you need some orange to go with that purple!!
You got clobbered!!
Oy vey!
(Yiddish has some Germanic roots)

I really like the blue doodle on the sidewalk. And the dark purple of the tart. The dessert... I mean the dessert.

You are so right about the orange. Those little red bits just don't cut it.

I like that doodle, too. It's near the underneath of the railroad bridge, which is heavily grafitied....

Now you know, I'd never have thought you were calling me a tart until you made a point of saying you were not.....

:-) :-)

I did not call you a tart. :)

That was my sister said that, yeah... she said it.

I hope your tarted up leg feels better...I mean the leg with the tire tracks...yeah...that's what I mean.

You had me laughing out loud. My honey was trying to talk to me, and thought that my laughter was inappropriate to the conversation, so I had to explain that I was laughing at you, not him.

:-)

And -- I'm telling your sister that you are calumniating her. So there.

:-)

still laughing...................
