Something new, on something old -- we've looked at a lot of coneflowers, and this is the first time I've noticed a petal like this one.
Pokeweed is an interesting plant. It makes these large groups of flowers, which are followed by similarly large groups of dark purple berries.
They are poisonous to mammals, though not to birds.
