market, September 27

.

One of my favorite competitions at the state fair is "warted gourds." I have no idea what the criteria are for judging, I just love that there can be a competition for warted gourds.

Some warted gourds here at the market.

This must be prime pepper season. I don't think I've ever seen so many varieties.

Cabbage.

*Green* little squashes.

There is always a feeling of itchiness between the shoulder blades, when I am taking pics and walking with someone. I just know that someone wants to *move on*, already, so I don't take as many pics as when I am by myself......... Really, I don't. I know it doesn't seem that way when you are waiting for me, but really, I'm moving right along.......... Relatively speaking......

At some point I realized I was making a collection of hot peppers. So many different shapes!

Water melons, and ...?

Love zinnias..............

Eggplants.

Pimiento peppers. These are not hot. They are sweet and very tasty.

These are hot.

As are these.

And these.

Look how fat the stem is on this pumpkin! I don't think I've ever seen such a fat stem.

Chard. Talk about beautiful food. Wow.

Walking away from the market; crabapples.

And there the batteries died, so the trip ends abruptly, photographically speaking. I had made a point of emptying the camera chips, and neglected to put the extra batteries back into the fanny pack that the camera and accoutrements live in.....

Ah well.
