still on the way to work, October 23

.

This flower is pining for the fjords.

Wondering if each of those open-ended things is a seed...............

Still blooming *and* gone to seed.

Like the seeds and the curvy leaves.

The old willows at the northwest corner of West Park, from outside the park.

In addition to the more spectacular plants, the lawn grass is nice.... Green.

I am not a big fan of junipers (stepped on their yard shrapnel too many times as a kid!), but I can admire the texture of this little one in someone else's yard.

Alium, gone to seed.

Oh my. Didn't see that the petals were curled in this beguiling way (especially that upper one!) until I got home and saw them on the big screen.

Aster.

Still appreciating the coneflowers. Wondering if each spike is a seed..... Tantalizing to be able to look at these and not be able to take them apart to find out......

Hosta.

I have no idea what this is. Love the curl on the one near the top, pretty much in the middle. Why am I singing the Whoville Christmas song?

(tried to find a video clip on YouTube -- guess I shouldn't be surprised that a Disney thing is NOT to be found there.....)

We've been walking along Seventh, which is at the western end of West Park.

Looking into the southwest corner of the park.

Don't you think that anyone who likes lace and hearts needs to grow this tree?

Still blown away that all this is just lying there on the ground.

Enjoying this, too, but in comparison to the prev.........

Gorgeous pictures, and thank you for leaving a comment on my blog!

Are you the blogger who wanted to practice French? I failed to mark the site or the mail and then could not get back when I had time.

This time i am going to save you as a favorite!

The Whoville seed pods are maybe penstemon?

And you exhibit far more self control than I do about "seed collection".
I would be the one with the small hand pruners 'deadheading' the flowers...

I need orange said...

Thank you, Francoise! I don't think it was I who asked to practice French, but my memory isn't what it used to be..... :-)

Leslie, I can easily imagine that pic at the bottom of the page in your link drying up to be the Whos I saw..... I have taken pics of that same garden before, but have no idea just what it was that turned into those curl-topped seed pods.

As for self control -- I know how annoyed I would be if someone were messing with my flowers (however gone-to-seed), so I do as I wish would be done to me..... Now if I saw the people in the yard, I would ask and then..... I have seen the woman in the yard with that one with the open pentagons showing.....

I guess I sort of regard it like looking at the moon. Very interesting, but out of reach.....
