Toledo Zoo, October 30, African veldt and wolves

.

Nasty old (ok, ok, nice new) fence is at least as annoying as plexi-with-glare....

African wild dog. You get extra points if you notice that it is standing funny. It limped heavily. The fence had several signs attached saying that the animal was under veterinary care.

I always feel better when animals are on grass. It seems that they haven't beaten their area down into the dust (meaning that they have some level of "enough" space.....)

Wouldn't it be cool to live across the street from the zoo? To see giraffes and zebras and ostriches, when, reading in bed, you look up from your novel?

We did see an ostrich, but it was so far away it would have been one of those "see that brown dot over there, with the twig coming out of it? well that's an ostrich!" sort of pics.

And now for something embarassing. I showed you these crocs before.

Do you know, they are in the same positions as before. I mean. EXACTLY the same posistions....................

Sigh.

I thought it was odd, before, the way they were holding their feet up off the ground, but what do I know. Ah well. Fool me once, etc.

The zoo does have an identity card thing to look at, which does identify them (and some other "embellishments" of the area as sculpture rather than flesh and blood...........)..............

(And last time we were here, they weren't covered with bird#%$&^...........)

Perhaps sometime we'll visit when there is snow on the ground. That would make an interesting pic.......

I did think it was odd, last time, that the cranes completely disregarded the "crocs"........

The Toledo Zoo has a lot of interesting plants, in addition to animals.

Doesn't this look like a cross between a peanut and a grape? Aside from the fact that neither grows on trees?

This area is a dead end; you go back through it to get to the bridge to the rest of the zoo.

On the way back to the bears; wolves. They were sleepy, too. This is the only one that was standing..........
