Toledo Zoo, October 30

.

The 30th was another gorgeous day, if cool. We decided we'd best visit the zoo while the sun shone.....

Sharp right, after you enter, and you find the arctic exhibit.

I am sure these are not harbor seals, but what kind they are..... You'd think I could read the info, but no, I was taking pictures..........

These are big. Six feet long, I bet.

Why they like to spend so much time belly-up, I don't know.

Buh bye.......... (Look how its toes are all spread out to catch the water, in contrast to how they are all neatly together when gliding..........)

Next we find the polar bears. They were napping.

This is one of two mama bears who make their home at the zoo. Both of them had cubs last year. Three new girl bears were born.

This is a good-sized human -- 6'4.5". She doesn't look that scary, does she?

This is one of the cubs, now a bit older than a year and a half.

Mama woke up briefly, when some tasty children made noise right outside the glass.

Tragically the glass was still there, hunting dreams or no hunting dreams, so she went back to sleep.

Here is her other cub.

"Go away, paparazzi! I am not ready for my close-up."

Ok, Ms. Bear, we'll let you finish your nap.

(Just a note -- I essentially never use a flash, and certainly wouldn't use one to photograph wildlife. Too rude. [nevermind that when one speaks of glare, trying to take a flash pic through plexi.....])

Oh your so good with your camera:D Lurved the polar bear photos. I was a glass thickness away from a tiger last year, when we visited the Sydney zoo.

Just blows me away, to think we can be so close to a wild animal like that.

Photos made me want to cuddle the bear and sink my fingers into her fur:D

Thanks, Lucky! Stay tuned -- I've got some even better pics coming up. The bears were awake when we came back by.......

It does blow your mind to be 1" away from the animals, doesn't it? We were just-the-plexi away from the polar bears, from gorillas, from the big male orang, from the big male hippo............ All on this one trip.

Wanting to cuddle bear -- me too!!!!!! :-)
