Update, Jan 18. I thought it was likely that the pics taken in SL were way bigger than the other images I upload here (as they were taking way longer to upload), and ... sure enough. I don't want my blogger space eaten up, so I will have to be editing these, and shrinking them. That does mean I'll get the opportunity to crop and lighten, so it's not all bad.... I did change the text a bit, but mostly this is the same post with slightly better pics.
In order to practice saving "outfits" and doing a bit of modification on same, we got some freebies from the kiosks.
The woman in the gray hair the presenter. (She is the same one who had that amazing red dress last week.)
You can recognize me by the ponytail. This dress did not have any red on top, just a little black and a lot of skin. I immediately put on a tshirt under it, and then modified the tshirt. The dress looks a lot redder in "appearance edit" mode than it does here, which is why I havent' yet gotten the tshirt to match the skirt.....

This dress is something you would NEVER catch me in, in RL (real life!), but in an academic sort of way I appreciate it's translucent ruffly skirt. I want to start learning how to build stuff............

After a bit of practicing with different clothing, people started showing off their various much-more-elaborate get-ups.
Our presenter is now the cat with the whirling galaxy over her head. Another regular is the butterfly (blue and yellow verticals over a gray body with pink legs). I wish I had gotten a pic of her that way, especially when she flew -- her wings flapped like a butterfly.....
(Note guy on right with hands in typing position. That means he is working on typing something into the chat window that we all can see.)
I said I felt seriously underdressed, and the presenter gave me some costumes.

Me, as a swashbuckler. Tee hee. (That's presenter-cat's galaxy in the foreground.)

Me, in the cloud of mist, as a combination of water nymph and swashbuckler. Double tee-hee. I could have removed the jacket and sword, but was rather amused by the combination. Butterfly, as her more usual self, in foreground.

Same group, from a different angle. More males present this week. At least more male avatars........ One of them is female in real life, and had come as her usual female avatar last week, but tried out a male one today.

As you can see, my ponytail stayed through my transformations, but, unfortunately, my shape and skin did not.
When I lost the nymph/swashbuckler getup, I didn't go back to my old look, but kept the wraith-like look of the nymph.
I didn't know how to recover, so I put on the full male elf getup and started over.
I now *think* I have saved all the aspects of my appearance so I can pull them out of a folder and wear them, presto change-o, but I wouldn't swear to it.........
I think I'll go back and practice all this some more.
Did I mention that the learning curve is steep?!?!?!?
It is fascinating, though. Butterfly mentioned that she becomes a ship and participates in naval battles. !!! Something else one can't do in RL! There is a battle tonight. She gave me the landmark, but it's at 11:00. Not sure I'll be up then.... She says she spends a lot more time just sailing than battling, though, usually. We might get sailing lessons. Cool.
