Today's UM SL brownbag continued the astronomy/space theme.
I had walked by some of this stuff after the last brownbag two weeks ago. There is a TON of stuff here. Whichever way you turn, there is more to see.....
I was the first one here. I looked at this rocket, which was moving around. We were told later that this was the first re-usable rocket in SL.

Rocket, in the green hair and wings was our guide to this area. I believe that she designed/built a lot of the stuff here, and exerts a lot of influence over what is here.
A lot of RL companies and organizations have a presence here.

Getting ready for a rocket ride up to the space station.
The squarish meshy things are steps, but if you click on the rocket, you'll sit on it for the ride. Often one right-clicks on things to sit on them, but this time it was a left-click. I had to try several times to successfully sit.

Note in the prev the kid in the black tshirt had yet to sit.
Note here that he basically sat *on* me, and our images are in/on each other.
Finally, note positions of gown skirts. You can tell a lot about the motion of the rocket from looking at flexible things.....

We have taken off. Note skirts. (Not sure why part of my hair is sticking out as though we were going forward fast...........)

More up. Higher than the clouds.

Now moving in the direction I face.

Moving toward the right side of this image.

Looking at us from the back of the rocket. A good look at our tour guide.

Now we are coming down. Gravity apparently not lower here than on land.

We landed on a platform that was under the space station. I tried to fly up to see it, but one can only fly a limited distance above the planetary surface, and we were already a lot higher than that. So my attempt to fly off the edge of the platform to go see the space station resulted in me just jumping off and landing (eventually!) on the ground, more or less where we started.

Our hour was up, anyway, so I didn't worry too much about my ungraceful exit from the group. I walked around.
I sat on a swing, but it didn't swing. I stood up, and made it swing, but then I couldn't figure out how to get on it. I sat on the other swing, and then made it swing, and that worked.
Both continued to swing for as long as I was in that area....

Sat on the teeter, and then had it totter. It, too, continued to move as long as I was in the area.

Sitting on a giant lady bug. You can see the swings are still swinging.

I wandered around a bunch more, finding Northern Michigan's SL presence.
I have no idea where I am now, but it is very cool.
You can just see me, as a dark line segment pretty much in the center.

Here's what it looked like to me in the prev, looking out over the ocean.

Lots of plants, lots of water. Excellent couch fabric choice!
You never know what the animation will have you do when you click "sit here"....

Enjoying the sight and sound of the sea. The simulation of the sound is better than that of the sight.

It's cool to be able to walk around under the surface of the water, and of course you're not wet when you come out. But I'd rather feel the real water..........
