May 19, part 2

.

We ate dinner at Gertrude's (which is in and just outside the Baltimore Museum of Art). It is a very pleasant place to eat.

One walks on a path around and through part of the BMA's sculpture garden to get to the museum (and restaurant).

This wall is between the parking lot and the sculpture garden

I looked, to see if there was something special framed by this window, but no.

Azaleas.

We ate rather early, as we had a play to catch later.

Love the reflections in the bottom of my glass.....

I had the trout. It was nice. We also had their mini crab-cake appetizer -- very nice indeed.

A rhubarb dessert. I would have liked it better without all that shortbread.

Decaf espresso for the foodie.

Our table was to the left of this fountain. Note fence in background.

Leaving the parking lot to walk through the sculpture garden.

Looking back toward the fountain above. This was taken through the fence in the background of the fountain pic.

Going strictly by the leaves, I would guess this is holly.

The top of the building housing the theatre.

This is a very gritty play. Fyi. At least it had a happy ending.

It was well acted, and was directed by John Astin.

If you watched tv in the 60s, you may remember John Astin as Gomez Addams in The Addams Family.

He teaches drama, and my daughter was lucky enough to take his seminar this last term. She had a wonderful time and enjoyed John very much. We met him on the 19th, and found him to be charming and engaging.

We were early for the play. My mom's knee was acting as though it might cause trouble, so she thought it wise to enjoy a couch in the theatre building while the rest of us strolled a bit.

Elderly building getting rehabbed.

White columns and brick walks.

Walk through the columns above, and find yourself in this space. Looking out toward the quad which had frisbee-playing boys earlier.

Looking right.

The tree on the left as you go down the stairs above is a magnolia, and this is a closeup of one of its flowers.

That same fancy cupola on top of theatre building.
