June 30, walking home

.

Do you remember the golden rain tree we saw so much of, last year at this time?

I walked under it on the 30th.

It was a windy day, and the camera had trouble focusing on what I was hoping it would see.

So many flowers on one plant! I suppose a linden has nearly as many but they are not yellow and they are mostly held behind/under the leaves. You can't see them from a distance, the way you can see these.

The whole tree shows nearly as much yellow as green, when these are in full swing.

Daylilies have that name because the flowers last for only one day.

Most often the spent flowers are ugly and distracting.

How charming of this one (stella de oro?) to keep such an attractive color for its spent blooms.

It's the crinkle in the edge of that one petal that makes this for me.

I don't know what this is. It spreads readily where it is happy. Almost weed-like, in some places, where it is clearly not being coddled.

These clumps were higher than my waist.

Love the persimmon tree.

Love the would-have-been fruits.

Love them when they are green, love them when they are purple, love them when the middle opens up and turns brown.....

Coneflowers. I never cared much for them until I started to photograph them up close and personal. Now I am a major admirer.

Every phase, from bud through flower to dried-up remainder, gives something interesting to anyone who takes a moment to look......

I don't know what this is, but I like its long skinny pointy bud-protector thingies.

Oh my. What's not to like about this?

It's orange. It has freckles. It has ripply edges.

Nice.
