August 19, excellent clouds

.

I have flown in and out of clouds before. In heavy cloud cover.

I do not recall ever having the experience of flying out of one cloud, into blue sky, and then into the next cloud.

It was very cool indeed.

Then there were layers and layers and layers of clouds.

Different sizes, different shapes. Wouldn't it be interesting to know the why/how of those really flat ones, amongst all the puff?

It made me think of coral under the flat surface of water.....

Of course I always want a window seat, and *not* over the wing.

I was pretty far back. This seat was ok, noise-wise, but coming home I was in the row directly in front of the engine, and had to use my earplugs.

They said our traveling altitude was 28,000 feet. I wonder how high those clouds above us in this pic were.

Airplanes, of course, are excellent vantage points for Big Sky pics. (Only space is better, I guess.)

Airports are very good vantage points, too.

Kansas has had a very strangely cool and damp summer. It was odd to see it so green, in late August.
