house cleaning -- part 21 of 487

.

Had you wondered what happened to the house cleaning?

It is still under way, with a serious load of "but before we do that, we ought to do this, first"....................

Part of what has been driving all of this is to make the living room more nearly the way the tv-watcher would like to have it. This means a much bigger tv, new furniture, complete rearrangement, etc.

We realized that if we were getting rid of most of the living room furniture, this would be our very best possible opportunity to get the floor refinished.

And that if we were refinishing the floor, we really ought to paint first.....

And before we can paint, we need to address nail holes (trivial) and cracks in the ceiling (not so trivial).

We have done the repairs, as much as we are going to. (It is an infinite process -- you can always make it better, and at some point you have to stop and say ENOUGH.)

Priming has happened.

"New tv" taped to wall so size can be judged, with primed nail holes above.....

Of course all furniture must be moved away from the walls, in order to paint. When you haven't moved the (7' tall, 1" thick oak) bookshelves since they were placed, well over 20 years ago, this is what it looks like behind/underneath. Especially with a cold-air intake back there sucking the dust in.

There is usually a small desk here, between two bookshelves. I wondered what had happened to that quilting ruler (yellow, transparent, up against the wall bottom right).............

We took another several bags of ... stuff ... to the thrift store yet again last week. Progress is being made, but it is hard not to think of it as glacial.

And impossible not to realize how transient a notion "progress" is. Chaos will triumph, in the end............

I am thoroughly spoiled by photoshop. Once my pics are spiffed up, they stay that way. Forever And Ever.

MUCH more rewarding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
