house cleaning, part 24 of 487

.

We finished painting the living room on Aug. 8. It looks marvelous.

The floor-finishing guy is scheduled to begin sanding on Aug. 11.

So we had to get evvvvvvverything out of the living room.

You know that, in order for anything to become clean, something else has to become dirty, right?

Well, in order for anything to become empty, something else has to become full.....

Turning our backs on that!

Aside from the fact that we are looking out at the hottest day of the year (and let's hope that it IS the hottest day and no more days like this or worse!), I like the dreamy look.

Doesn't look too bad, does it?

In fact, most of the floor looks just fine. But you can surely tell where there has been traffic, and the more traffic, the sadder the floor.

There are two places where it is really bad -- the place where you step down onto the wood from the stairway to upstairs, and the place where you step onto the wood from the kitchen. Most of the finish and part of the wood are worn away in both of those locations.

Sigh.

Ok.

Looking at something that is pure progress -- we had our electrician put in a new outlet here, where the tv is going to go, and also had her bring up the cable from the basement. Before her ministrations, our cable came up through holes in the floor, etc.

Doesn't this look just like downtown!?! And while you are admiring it, you can also admire my fabulous cutting-in skills.

It's really more fun to paint when you change the color. And ... we're a lot older than we were when we last painted this room in 1986!
