He seemed nearly normal yesterday. Barked a few times before I took him out on leash. Pulled, on leash, a bit.....
His output was firmer than I've seen in a while (but not yet normal). I'm giving him pumpkin with his meals (figuring that the antibiotics won't kill the gut-soothing effect of that), and yogurt or immune-boosting yogurt drink a few hours after his antibiotics (as I believe they will kill the good bacteria in the yogurt). He is moving back to kibble from rice.
I talked to the vet yesterday. She was glad to hear he is doing so much better.
She said the result of the tonsil biopsy showed necrotic tissue (eeuuuuwwh!) and inflamation, but no signs of cancer. (Yay!) I asked if we needed to DO anything about that, and she said that we were doing the right thing with all the antibiotics.
She reiterated that this is really weird and they are all baffled as to what can have brought this on.
I should tell her that the one website I looked at where they studied this had a noticeable percentage of dogs whose final diagnosis was FUO -- Fever of Unknown Origin............ I'd have to go back and look, but I think it was 5%-ish.......
We are to continue everything we are doing until the antibiotic run out, and then bring him back so they can try to get another look at his throat (with him awake, not as easy as when he's knocked out).
Whew!

Still sending good thoughts to you . . .
Thank you!
And back at you -- "Easy birth, healthy mom and pups, girls please."
:-)
So glad to hear a good update. You are all still in my thoughts. Gwennie, a fellow rescue, and one who knows what it is like to be sick, cheers him on as well.
Thanks!
Thanks to Gwennie, too. How is she feeling? Continuing to enjoy life, I hope and trust!
