.
They xrayed him at about 5:00. The xrays found ... nothing. There was one "pocket" between his tooth and gum, which they flushed out, but "the roots are sound."
They said his tonsils are really red and angry-looking, so they biopsied them.
He can't come home tonight because he is doped out on the anesthesia, so he will stay overnight.
They will switch the cephalexin out for baytril, and keep him on the doxycycline (antibiotics all).
They will put him on rimadyl (nsaid) to keep the fever down and help him not feel so achey.
They will send him home in the morning if nothing is worse.
It's not fixed.
But they haven't found anything Really Bad, either.
I took his Claritin, so they can give him some of that, and a bag of newspaper (they line the hospital cages with it).

Umph. Modern medicine.
Maybe his tonsils are swollen due to his allergies?
I'm hoping for your sake that the antibiotic and rimadyl handle it.
One thing I have learned in the last few years is that medicine is more an art than a science.
Or at least as much an art....
What's true for one individual is not true for the next.
Alas................
And ... everything is about balance rather than X is Good and Y is Bad.....
"They" know a lot more than they used to, but not nearly as much as I wish they knew..................
Sigh.
I took it that this tonsil thing is very odd. But then his congestion thing is very odd, too, I guess, so they may well be related. Dr. Franklin has told me that the other two dogs she has seen with the same sort of congestion as W are also beaglish............
Thank you.
I, too, hope that we can find a way to lick this.
It has been so odd -- two or two and a half weeks ago he was fine (well, his congestion and his gooey eye aside!), and now he's a mess.
