.
Last night we took him to emergency.
He was running a temp of 106, so they kept him. (102/103 is normal for dogs)
All I could see was that he seemed to ache all over. He's gone from being apparently fine to being like a really old dog in less than a week.
No vomiting, no diarrhea, no particular areas of soreness that I was aware of.................... Just really slow, stiff-looking, going up steps one at a time instead of running. sleeping too much, not paying attention to invader dogs on our front sidewalk. He was eating anything offered, but slowly. Etc.
I did notice that he didn't want to take his pills. Ordinarily he is a total piece of cake to pill, but starting on Saturday I had to pry his mouth open. I put it down to "everything aching" and maybe it was uncomfortable to open his mouth wide.
She said that the lymph nodes under his right jaw were enlarged, and on Saturday the word was his nodes were all fine. She also said that he said his gums and teeth were painful on the right side.
In addition to getting his temp down, she wanted to aspirate the enlarged lymph node and send it out for evaluation. And do another cbc. (The one they did on Saturday was normal.)
A high temp can mean a lot of things, I guess.
We are hoping for an abscess; everything else is worse................
I was really hoping to get a little time with a healthy dog........
*Relatively* healthy; he still is congested all the time............
