The last thing we wanted to get at IKEA was rugs. After spending a good deal of time arranging and rearranging old blankets on the floor under the living room furniture, we decided to get a couple of large-ish rugs.
On the 2nd, hooray, we'd finally managed to make a drop-off trip to the thrift store. So when we had to empty out the minivan to accommodate the rugs, it was only the seats we had to remove, rather than the seats *and* the stuff waiting to be donated.
It was raining, off and on, on the 3rd.

Feeling an urge to mess with this. Heighten the saturation. (enhance/color/hue-saturation/push the slider......)

Watercolor. (filters/artistic/watercolor)

Too dark. (enhance/lighting/shadows highlights/push the shadow slider around)
Too bad that minivan in front of us was so dark; it just looks like a blob.
Oh well.

In about half a mile we go from basically rural to major stripmall-ification. Clearly we went over some sort of boundary.........
Wonder why it is that stores which used to appear in malls now are in strip malls..... The overhead for all that open space is just too high? I wonder.
Lots of big stores, which, 30 years ago might have anchored malls, along this road.

I think this must have set a record for our fastest trip to IKEA. We didn't even go upstairs.
As I waited with the rugs for the car to be brought around, the sky was dramatic!

Can't think of IKEA without remembering my first time. We were visiting my bro and sil outside of Stockholm, and we visited the IKEA there..................
This would be the Swedish flag, with Michigan and USA.

Going home.

On the way east I had noticed these flats of pumpkins. My better half asked if I'd like to stop there on the way home. We drove through, and I caught a few shots of the piles of orange.

One day I'll have to take some more pics of the living room. We haven't had a sunny day since we got the rugs home.....
They are ... dark.
We, of course, brought home carpet samples before we recarpeted the family room. It was easy to see exactly what they looked like in *our* light, with *our* dog hair on them.
The rugs are dark blue. Sort of a denim idea, with lighter threads shot through. Only the lighter areas run toward teal, rather than the whole thing just being totally navy.........
Can you see where I'm going? They show every hair.................................
And I'm not sure I'm delighted by our nice (pale, did I say pale?) chair frames against all that serious darkness.
Ah well.
I believe I'll be deciding "good enough for who it's for," but at this point I am not, alas, thrilled. (I love the carpet we chose last year............)
Ah well.
